New Conservative Candidate for Kings-Hants in 2019

July 06, 2018

July 6, 2018 (Kentville, NS) – Martha MacQuarrie will carry the Conservative Party of Canada colours in Election 2019 under national Party leader Andrew Scheer in the federal riding of Kings – Hants.

A dedicated community volunteer, Martha is a Rotarian and an active supporter of local organizations dedicated to health and children’s education.

Martha’s wealth of experience in government and policy development arises from her many years of public service on various boards. She currently manages the constituency office for Kings North PC MLA John Lohr.

“Kings – Hants needs a more effective voice in Ottawa. Our current Liberal MP should be fighting against the carbon tax that will hurt seniors and families.”

The riding of Kings – Hants is currently held by Liberal MP and President of the Treasury Board of Canada, Scott Brison.

“He should be pushing back against unfair changes that hurt our local businesses. Instead, he is silent, except to defend bad decisions by Justin Trudeau. It’s time for Kings – Hants to elect a fresh voice to Parliament.”

Kings – North MLA John Lohr has come out in support of MacQuarrie’s nomination saying, “Martha is a caring and capable person. She’s driven in everything she does by a sincere desire to help people. She will make an excellent Member of Parliament.”

MacQuarrie is Chair of Landmark East Foundation; her team fundraises to provide bursaries for students to attend the school. She also serves as a Director on the school’s board. Her proven leadership and policy experience also includes time as Director on the Annapolis Valley Health Authority, as well as chairing the federal tribunal that oversaw Employment Insurance appeals.

Martha is the widow of volunteer fire fighter, Captain Brian Kingsbury. Their blended family has six children. Captain Kingsbury passed away in 2015 due to illness related to his service as a fire fighter.

Canada’s 43rd federal election will be held on or before October 21, 2019.
